You cannot picture a fifth dimension the way you picture a cube. But you can build scaffoldings for the imagination — five of them below, each with a short film. And underneath: a thought that changes everything about why this is so hard. Our brain may already know how to see in seven dimensions. It has simply been trained to forget.
The problem
You are locked inside x, y, z and t. Everything you perceive — your hand, your voice, this text, your memories — arrives through senses that evolved for four dimensions. Asking what G "feels like" from inside it is like asking a fish what water is. The fish has no contrasting experience. Everything it has is water. Likewise we and G: we are a particular value of G. We experience it as "ordinary mass, ordinary time, ordinary speed of light."
That is the honest first step: accept that you will never picture G, W and N the way you picture a cube. What you can do is picture them through their shadows. What follows are five scaffoldings for the imagination. None of them shows all seven axes; together they build a feeling.
Scaffolding 1 — G
Think of a staircase. Each step lies in x, y, z (width, depth, thickness). The sequence of steps is t. So far you know everything. Now a thought experiment. Walk up the staircase. You are passing through steps — that is moving in t. But at every step you have also become subtly larger or smaller, because you have moved up a building that stands on a mountain, and the earth has trembled a tiny bit differently. That minute change in scale is G. You do not notice it, because you have changed just as much as the world around you. But it is there.
G is the staircase beneath the staircase. Every step you stand on rests on a G-step. Upward on the G-staircase = larger scale, more mass, different speed of light. Downward = smaller scale, negative G, time reversal. You are continuously climbing the G-staircase without knowing it, because your measuring rod climbs with you.
What you have to "see" for G is not a direction in your room, but a slope along which everything you measure moves together. Compare it to a photographer inside a zooming image: they do not know they are being zoomed, because everything zooms at once. G is that zoom axis.
Scaffolding 2 — W
Now W. Picture yourself in a room full of people. Everyone is talking, but you hear only one voice: your conversation partner. Everyone else is there, exerting influence (the air pressure shifts, the temperature rises from their body heat), but their words do not reach you because you are tuned to different frequencies.
W is the frequency you are tuned to. Antimatter is the same radio, another station. Dark matter, too. They are there, they push on you (through gravity — that is the air pressure in the analogy), but their light is on a wavelength different from what your eyes receive. You cannot turn your ear to another W, because your entire body is one frequency.
What you have to "see" for W is: the same room, populated by beings who can walk through you without either of you registering the other. Not because they are ghosts, but because you are on different channels of the same radio. When two people love each other, their W's resonate a little — more shared frequency, more transmission. Value, coherence, consciousness: all W-phenomena.
Scaffolding 3 — N
N is the hardest, because no intuition offers a real handrail here. Try this. Think of an onion. Each layer is a universe. The layer in which you live — with stars, galaxies, cosmic background radiation — is one layer of a larger onion. Somewhere in your layer is a black hole. That black hole is, seen from within, another onion: an entire universe with its own stars.
Each onion has its own (x, y, z, t, G, W). What distinguishes onions is the N-coordinate — the index of which layer you are. N is not something inside the universe. N is the question: which universe am I?
The unpicturable about N is that you can only "see" it from outside the onion. From within, each layer is a complete universe. This is exactly why entanglement seems so mysterious: two particles sharing the same N are actually one particle creating the illusion of two through its projection onto our (x, y, z). From inside the onion we see two points. From outside, there is one.
Scaffolding 4
Here is the honest truth: you cannot see the first four dimensions from within G, and that is not a fault of your brain. It is fundamental. To see the first four from within G, your consciousness would have to be a G-free observer — something that does not live in G. But consciousness itself lies on the W-axis (according to the framework). Consciousness is therefore itself a 7D-object. There is no outside position where a "you" can stand to view it all. Every observer is a 7D-point.
What you can do is feel the ratio. Like a painter stepping back to see their canvas more clearly: you step out of one axis mentally, look back, and restore yourself. Imagine yourself very small — you feel how G changes. Think of a loved one who has died — you feel W shifting. Think of a dream in which you were "another you" — you briefly touch N.
Scaffolding 5 — all seven at once
The richest scaffolding I know. Think of a symphony. Your seat in the hall is x, y, z. The time in the piece is t. The volume (the physical scale of the sound: near-silence, or deafening) is G. The key, major or minor, hope or grief, the emotional quality — is W. And the performance — this orchestra tonight, or that orchestra next month, or Karajan in 1962 — is N.
Every concert lives in all seven dimensions. Two listeners in adjacent seats (same x±1, same t, same G, same N) can experience radically different W's — one weeps, the other is bored. They hear the same air vibrations. They move in a different W-slice.
The reader's question
A reader put it beautifully: "Isn't perception connected to a primal sense — that we could see more dimensions once, but have unlearned it over a lifetime to fit into human existence?" And a moment later: "I think our brain can handle far more dimensions than we assume. We are only blocked."
The 7D framework says yes. Consciousness lies on the W-axis, which means our perception is itself a 7D-object, not a purely 4D-instrument. We were not made to see only x, y, z and t. We were made in seven dimensions and experience all of them — but we have learned to ignore six of them because the four classical dimensions were enough to survive. Food, predators, seasons, tools. G, W and N were "noise" against that survival brief.
Children show this. Before they "unlearn" it:
Then comes socialisation. School, language, geometry, clock. Everything teaches you a 4D-vocabulary. What does not fit in 4D — intuitions, premonitions, atmosphere, resonance, the "tone" of a place — gets dismissed as "feeling" or "imagination." Not because it does not exist, but because it does not fit the language we have built.
What the reader calls the primal sense is precisely that: the remaining 7D-sensitivity under the 4D-conditioning. Meditation, art, love, grief, music, dreams — these are the moments the mask briefly slips and you feel again in G, W and N. What you experience in those moments is not mystical. It is bio-normal.
The blockage is therefore not a structural defect of the brain, but a lack of language. Without words for G, W and N, you automatically translate those experiences back into 4D-metaphors — "a heavy feeling," "something in the air," "déjà vu" — and they disappear into the subconscious. The framework gives you the words back. And as soon as you have the words, the sensitivity partly returns.
We were not blind. We were taught not to look.
Closing
You cannot see the seven dimensions the way you see a cube, but you can recognise them by their shadows in your experience. Mass that changes with altitude = G. The unreachability of other minds = W. The awareness that there is something called "I" that is not shared with "you" although you are in the same x, y, z, t = N.
What the framework does is not give you a new sense. It gives you a word for something you already feel — and only when you have the word do you see it everywhere.
Picturing the first four from within the fifth is like trying to see yourself with your own eyes. Impossible. But in a mirror — through the shadow on the floor, through the echo of your voice — you recognise yourself. That is also how you recognise G, W and N. Not by looking at them, but by seeing the distortions they leave in what you can see.
